Autumn International news: England

Great Autumn Internationals seats and cheap rugby union tickets are for sale now at LiveRugbyTickets.co.uk. In the long-range, England has their sights aimed for a title victory at the next World Cup, in Japan 2019. Meanwhile, to prepare for the fall rugby season and the Autumn Internationals, England has planned a summer tour playing a first-ever three-Test series against Australia in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney with the Quantas Wallabies in June 2016.

Australia and England will battle for the Cook Cup at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Melbourne’s AAMI Park, and Allianz Stadium in Sydney. "We’re going to be in their face, physical, unrelenting. We’re going to make them so uncomfortable" vowed current England boss Eddie Jones of taking on his homeland in the series. Aussie Jones believes the upcoming Test series with Australia will be a physically demanding, massive battle. The Red Rose’s Grand Slam winning England manager Jones is a former boss of the Australian national rugby union team.

“To beat the Wallabies in Australia you have to play a physical, aggressive brand of rugby, and that’s what we intend to do,” said Jones. Former England head coach Stuart Lancaster also considered the series against the Wallabies as a massive challenge when it was announced a year ago. “A Test series in Australia is a massive challenge and one to really look forward to. We all saw the excitement generated by the three Tests on the British & Irish Lions tour. We haven’t toured Australia since 2010 so for most of our squad it will be their first opportunity to play a senior Test there and I’m sure it will be a great series,” said Lancaster.

Australia Head Coach Michael Cheika considers England to be the Wallabies greatest arch rivals. “There is no question England are our greatest rivals from the north and this is guaranteed to be a really hard-fought and physical series,” said Chelka. “It will be a great opportunity for the players to be involved in an historic series but it also gives our fans plenty to look forward to next season.” The first Test of the series will be played on June 11 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Melbourne’s AAMI Park, home of the Melbourne Rebels, hosts its first ever Australia Test on Saturday June 18, in the second Test of the series. The third Test will be played at Allianz Stadium in Sydney on Saturday, June 25.

Australia v England Schedule

Saturday 11 June, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Saturday 18 June, AAMI Park, Melbourne
Saturday 25 June, Allianz Stadium, Sydney

Saracens and England rugby star Chris Ashton will be staying home and not traveling with the England Rugby side to Australia. Joe Marler will also miss the tour, as will Tuilagi who withdrew from the England tour squad due to injury.

Chris Ashton’s 'head is not in the right place' for the Saxons tour to Australia said Saracens director of rugby, Mark McCall. However McCall is sure that England wing Ashton can get his place back on the England squad in time for the Autumn Internationals. Twenty-nine year old Ashton made a decision to withdraw from the Saxons tour to South Africa as he was the shock omission from the 32-man elite first squad named the day before for the three-Test series in Australia. Ashton decided that he would not be in the right frame of mind to join the tour with England’s second string.

Former England captain Will Carling tweeted that the “refusal could finish his England career.” “No, I don’t think it is the end,” said McCall ahead of Saturday’s Aviva Premiership final against Exeter Chiefs with an injury doubt over England fly-half Owen Farrell still to be resolved. “I think Chris is playing too well and is too young and hungry for that. Eddie has shown he is prepared to give people second chances and players can change his mind quickly,” said McCall. “For all sorts of reasons Chris’s head wouldn’t have been in the right place, so it was probably best that he didn’t go. But it won’t be a distraction for him this weekend.”

“I had a conversation with him, a few of us did,” stated McCall. “But Chris is a big boy and has weighed up everything and he felt that he wouldn’t have been in the right place to support the team as well as he could be. And that is a courageous decision.” Ashton’s wife is expecting a baby, their first child, in June. “I think if he had been picked for Australia, he would have gone, yeah,” said McCall. “I’m not sure how he operates with the other directors of rugby but we spoke after the Six Nations and then met with the players to map out the next couple of months and we haven’t spoken since.”

Jones previously named Aston for his first squad for the 2016 Six Nations Championship, but the wing received a 10-week ban and could not compete. Marland Yarde was then named in his place even though Aston has outscored him by 10 tries to two since returning from suspension.

“Chris was picked ahead of Marland Yarde for the Six Nations before he was suspended,” said McCall. “At that point England were concentrating on what he brought, not what he didn’t bring. Clearly that’s changed. I genuinely think Chris’s all-round game has improved a lot. He is not just a try-scorer. He brings a lot more to the party. He reads the game exceptionally well. He is also prepared to work for the team, to do the unseen stuff, hound people and chase kicks and all that sort of thing.”

Ashton is sure to be on the Saracens squad at Twickenham on Saturday. Farrell is a doubt while nursing a bruised side after a rough tackle by Leicester prop Ellis Genge. “Owen has to train on Thursday and if he does then he will play,” said McCall. “He is playing phenomenally well, maybe as well as anybody around the place. We are not going to rush the decision.” Following a scan, Manu Tuilagi has withdrawn from England's upcoming three-Test Australia tour squad due an injury he suffered during Leicester's Premiership defeat against Saracens on Saturday.

“Its bad luck for Manu so close to the tour but it provides a great opportunity for someone else,” said England Head Coach Eddie Jones. “We wish Manu all the best and a quick recovery.”

Leicester Tigers center Tuilagi’s replacement will be named after the Old Mutual Wealth Cup England v Wales game on Sunday May 29th. England Head Coach Eddie Jones has named his squad including four uncapped players that will tour Australia in June: Ben Te’o, Kyle Sinckler, Ellis Genge, and Teimana Harrison. Ben Te’o, the 17-stone Leicester center has impressed Jones with his aggressive running and Tuilagi-style ball carrying.

“Given what I’ve seen of him at Leicester he could be a very valuable player for England," said Jones about Ben Te’o. "He can play through the line and before it and he is also a great hitter." Twenty-three-year-old 19-stone prop Kyle Sinckler stared with Harlequins this season in the front row. The tight-head prop has demonstrated a “mature scrumaging technique and speed in open play, highlighted by his two scintillating tries in the Aviva Premiership”.

“Sinckler is the most interesting one for me,” added Jones. “There are areas of his game he needs to improve but he has competitive edges. We want people who are desperate to succeed. It has got to mean something to them. That’s what Sinckler’s got.” Twenty-one-year-old loose-head prop Ellis Genge signed with Leicester Tigers in February and sealed a place on England's summer tour in only three months. “I spoke to Leicester director of rugby Richard Cockerill and he said Genge is a bit of a lad, he is a guy who wants to be coached, who wants to improve and play rugby,” said Jones.

Kiwi-born Teimana Harrison plays back row at Northampton Saints. “We have 40 players competing for 30 spots and Teimana Harrison has really come out of the woodwork at Northampton,” said Jones. “He must have eaten something good at Christmas, because his play since has been outstanding.” England has some worthy opponents to face in the upcoming 2016 Autumn Internationals Rugby Union Tournament in November and December. Plan to be there live to support your national team in special matches within a special unique atmosphere.

England go face-to-face with South Africa on November 12 in the first test to open the tournament. The England National Team next welcome Fiji on November 19; Argentina on November 26; and Australia on December 3. All England matches will be played at Twickenham Stadium.
