Six Nations 2020 week 2 results

The second weekend of the Six Nations tournament is always a good indicator for what we can expect for the rest of this tournament. The teams that lost their first match, need to bounce back in order to make any chance of winning the tournament. This weekend was all about the storm Ciara in many sports all over Europe. The Six Nations womens match between Scotland and England was postponed due to the storm. All mens Six Nations matches were played despite the bad weather conditions.

Ireland versus Wales

Ireland played their second consecutive home match. After winning their first match against Scotland, they faced table leaders Wales. The Welsh rugby team travelled to Ireland with a 42-0 victory over Italy in their pocket. Ireland dominated the game at the Aviva Stadium and took a 12-7 lead at half-time. Both teams doubled their points in the second half, which brought Ireland to the top of the table with a 24-14 victory.

Scotland versus England

The match between Scotland and England was giving a go despite the storm. Nevertheless this match was heavily influenced by the Ciara storm. The World Cup runners-up adjusted better to the weather conditions than their Scottish opponents. With the high winds and relentless rain wreaking havoc for players handling and kicking, it was a low-scoring game. England won the game with 13 to 6, bringing them level with Wales on the 2nd spot of the table.

France versus Italy

The match between France and Italy was the complete opposite to Scotland versus England. The French team scored more points in the first half, than Scotland and England in the entire match. France led with 23 to 10 at half-time. Both teams scored 12 points in the second half, which means France won the match with 35-22.
