Six Nations 2022 week 1 results

The first weekend of the 2022 Six Nations tournament just finished. A weekend with fans being back in the stadium to watch their favourite rugby countries live in action. There was a special feeling in the stadiums during this first Six Nations weekend. In this article we discuss the results of all Six Nations 2022 week 1 matches.

Ireland versus Wales

Andrew Conway bagged a brace as Ireland hit the ground running in the 2022 Guinness Six Nations with a 29-7 bonus-point victory over defending champions Wales in Dublin. Carrying on where they left off in the Autumn Nations Series, Andy Farrell’s men opened the scoring inside three minutes as Bundee Aki finished a well-worked move. The big victory is a good start for Ireland in their hunt for the title.

Scotland versus England

According to the bookies, this match should be the closest out of all matches during the opening weekend. And the bookies were proved right. Scotland retained the Calcutta Cup with a 20-17 victory over England. Even though England was on top at the start of this match, it was Scotland who opened the score. A tough defeat for Eddie Jones and his men isn’t the start they were hoping for. Scotland now travels to Wales for next weekend. Book your Wales v Scotland Six Nations tickets here!

France versus Italy

The last match of this weekend was the one between France and Italy. The French side was by far the favourite to win this match. A Gabin Villière hat-trick helped France see off a stubborn Italy side 37-10 to get their Guinness Six Nations 2022 campaign off to a winning start in Paris. Which is a good result for France, but they still feel they can do a lot better.
