Six Nations Rugby kicks off: favorites Ireland beat Wales

After months and months of talking about it, today was the big day! Today was the day the Six Nations rugby tournament kicked off. In this article we discuss the results of Six Nations 2023 day 1. Six Nations tickets are still available for the remainder of the tournament. Ireland started against Wales, while Scotland played against England. Italy and France will close round 1 tomorrow.

Ireland starts with a win

The Irish rugby players, the strong favorites for this Six Nations Rugby, beat Wales 34-10 in the opening game. The first game of the prestigious six-nation tournament was already decided within thirty minutes, when Ireland took a 27-3 lead. Wales, who lost nine of their twelve tests in 2022, resisted better in the second half. They managed their only try through full-back Liam Williams, but the Irish defense was strong and gave little away. France will be Ireland's next opponent on February 11, an already promising match as both countries are the best teams in the world rankings.

Scotland beats England After a poor Six Nations tournament in 2022, England was determined to take their revenge in the 2023 editions. In a thrilling game that was tied for a long time, Scotland beat England 29-23 in the second game. Scotland led twice in the first half with a try from Huw Jones and a spectacular 60-yard try from Van der Merwe that sliced through five defenders. England took the lead 13–12 at half-time with a penalty from Owen Farrell. Both countries battled for victory in an energetic second half, until Scotland cornered an unstoppable Van der Merwe four minutes from time to decide the game.
